Dads and Lads Zambezi Safari
A 5 night safari on the Zambezi with a combination of exciting tiger fishing, Zambezi Rapids and specially curated moments to celebrate and honor our special young people!
What is included in the tour
Accommodation, meals, teas, coffee, non-bottled water and laundry. Child minding up to 4 hrs per day, Guided boat fishing (20l fuel per day) / single day drift boat fishing, Basic conventional fishing equipment, Day trips to the Sioma Falls, snorkelling, Beach breakfasts and walking trails
What is NOT included in the tour
Drinks, additional boat fuel, transfers, child minding over and above 4 hrs per day, fly fishing equipment and lost or broken fishing equipment / lures.
TYPICAL ITINERARY:
DAY 1
Arrival at Lumbe Pools camp
Mid-late afternoon transfer and check into camp followed by a beach braai and finger supper.
DAY 2
Tigerfishing, River Brunch, Sioma Falls
The first morning of the “Rite” Safari – Zambezi begins with a morning of guided tiger fishing on our drift boats followed by brunch back in Lumbe. There is normally some down time in camp before we meet again or the afternoon’s fishing before meeting the pontoon for sundowners. Dinner in camp will follow.
DAY 3
Self guided morning activities, shooting rapids and a Potjie Dinner
DAY 4
An active day of fishing, soccer with the community and a beach sleep out.
We start the day with foot based fishing from the rocks below the Falls before heading to our neighbouring community, Maziba Village, for a soccer match and a shared meal together. Following the shared meal and the soccer, we fish down to a remote beach where camping gear and packed dinner will be waiting. Enjoy a night camping on a remote beach around a fire beneath the stars.
DAY 5
Optional Add on
NOTE: For groups who want to add more meaning, depth to the experience, we can add a “ceremony” to the end the end of trip whereby you’ll get to honour these yound adults! For families and groups wanting to have a more low-key tradional family or Dad’s and Lad’s fishing trip, this afternoon’s events can easily be swapped out for more fishing.
This morning begins with fishing back to Lumbe Pools arriving in time for brunch. After brunch, we grab the beach games and snorkeling gear and head down to the Lumbe beaches. As the sun starts to lower, everyone climbs onto the pontoon and heads out on to Zambezi - it's time for the "Rite" Safari "Ceremony".
Day 6 - Departure after breakfast.
Note: Children under 18 years pay 50% of adult rate if sharing a boat and room with the addult.
